Ok. Then why be a good person? Why should I not do whatever the hell I want if there is no God?
Usually when I get into this discussion, it turns into, "Well, IF there was a God, he/she would want me to be a good person whether I'd believe in Him/Her or not" And I'm like sorry, that's an agnostic motivation - meaning, you are motivated by the thought there is a higher power so technically you DO need a God to be a good person.
"Why need a God to be a good person?"
The Christian God is pretty much a Dad who has given us rules for a happier life. How does a kid be a good kid without parent(s) to raise them well?
"Being good makes me feel good."
Ok, then that's a self-seeking motivator, of which all humans are. Some call in synergy, you help me, I help you, but it's all motivated to benefit the self.
If necessities became scarce, you think people would be all nice and giving to others over themselves? You're delusional if you think that. Deep down, we're primitive animals without a higher power, we're just too nestled in convenience to see that.
