Chickadee the Senior Citizen Lovebird who can't see and wants nothing more than to cuddle in your hand or under your chin. When you call her, she peeps and twirls in a circle. As soon as you put your hand infront of her, she wiggles her tail and embeds herself into your palm.
Cody is a splay-legged Lovebird that demands to be near me or he'll give a sharp angry chirp. He too likes to be in my hand or under my chin. I take him everywhere possible in his little carrier. He is our bird-rescue ambassador.
Piko is my Finsch's Conure (sub-species of Cherry-heads) who's a clingy clown who needs to be around me at all times. She rolls around on her back and talks up a storm during car rides. She my little baby.
Mikey is my Blue-Crown Conure who's a trouble maker, but loves me to death. If I'm crying, he will stop whatever he's doing and will rush over to me and give me a big kiss and just keep his face in front of mine until I calm down. He's done it a number of times and my husband has witnessed this. This proves to me birds' ability to show compassion and concern.
Miss Cockatiel has something like diabetes where she needs treatment. She used to hate me and love my dad. Ever since she's been with me, she's warmed up and loves to hang out with me. She's the best when I have to work on the computer.
I have a small number of handicapped and bullied finches, and 1 standard canary. I took him in because I wanted him to be friends with my one green singer finch/canary (I've seen finch/canary used interchangeably and they make the same noises)
Mr. Kakapo/Po/Weezer is an amazing little olive lineolated parakeet/linnie. He talks, he snuggles, he laughs, he loves. He is my husbands "best friend"
Sushi is a teal linnie. She's very shy, not bitey. We try to warm her up to us, but it hasn't really come around like Po. We don't judge her and let her do her own thing. We keep her in the living room so we can always say hi to her.
