I'm sure there's people there who gave him some change, proving that there's a little bit of good out there. I doubt they were as passionate to help as they were to tell him off. Give a piece of mind is easy, ignoring is easy, throwing some change in a cup is easy, actually HELPING, like properly helping, is very very hard... And even if you work hard to help, one bitter, entitled, possibly mentally ill asshole can ruin it. This pretty much sums up how I see humanity as a whole (individuals are different), although I love being proved wrong. If you're not taught to be compassionate, will compassion naturally flow from a human? I'm inclined to say no.
